Choosing the Best Self-Defense Videos

If you search self-defense videos hundreds of companies will pop up prepared to take your money for the newest thing in self-defense. You can find anything from the so-called black ops special forces top secret training videos down to “forbidden martial arts” instructors and everything in between. If you don’t know a lot about the self-defense industry it can be difficult and confusing to choose a video. When buying or even looking at self-defense videos here are a few guidelines that you can follow:

Guideline #1: You should stay away from anything that says anything that makes the technique sound forbidden and top secret, such as black ops, special forces, secret skill or secret training camps because it is most likely a scam. To be honest, black ops secret ninja force skills are just made up to make you think you’re getting something top secret. Skills similar to what you’d see in a lot of different martial arts is actually what true black ops and other special forces learn. There are no secret techniques. However, there are a lot of companies out there claiming that they’ll teach you the latest thing from secret training camps that the military banned for a hefty price. General rule of thumb is, if you see someone advertising this, you should avoid them. More likely than not it’s a scam. It’s difficult to trust someone that could be lying about what they’re teaching. You are putting your life in the hands of their system.

Guideline #2: Try to avoid buying an e-book. Even though this article is about self defense videos, when you search for self-defense videos you’ll actually see a lot of e-books come up. However, a person can gain a lot from e-books. However, a lot of the learning is left up to you. You’re not being taught, you’re reading how to do things. Unless their e-book has thousands of pictures, you’re not going to be able to see every part of the technique demonstrated, so you’ll miss out on a lot of the crucial parts of it. Yeah, the book may be solid information, but if your only source of knowledge for self-defense is an e-book, how will you ever know how to do the techniques properly? The truth is, you can’t. Avoid the e-books. Stick with the videos if that’s what you’re looking for.

Guideline #3: Another thing to keep in mind, when looking for self defense videos, is to look for self defense videos the creator actually stands by. Good self defense videos are typically backed up with good warranties and unconditional guarantees. Try the product for at least 30 days, otherwise, how can you really know it’s a good system. A lot of people just do a seven day trial period, which isn’t really any good. You can’t really gain an opinion on a system in just seven days. A system is more trustworthy the more the creator stands behind it. A test period of over 30 days is typically what you want. The unconditional money back guarantee, 30, 60, 90 days, they’re all pretty good. Look for people who actually stand behind their product.

Guideline #4: Research what you want beforehand. Before you pull the trigger and buy that product, Google the creator’s name, Google his product’s name, see what people are saying. A product with good reviews is usually a good product. You probably wouldn’t want to spend your money on it if it has bad reviews. You’ll find that if you Google the names of a lot of guys out there that their self-defense videos aren’t getting good reviews. They’re usually not received very well and get awful reviews. Try to remember that there is a website called “BullShido”. I wouldn’t trust anything, personally, that you read there. Since it’s written mostly by MMA fanatics, everything but MMA is trashed and disregarded. Yes, while there is a lot of great knowledge there, it’s very biased. So, there are better sources out there than MMA forums…however other sources are available. If you Google the name and you’ve seen a lot of stuff, saying that’s not a good product or maybe bad customer service, or anything like that may be something you want to stay away from.

If you’re looking for self-defense videos, make sure you follow those guidelines when you’re trying to find self defense videos and you’ll find a good company that will treat you right.
